Nea Chora is a stunning beach located just a short 15 minute walk away from the old harbour of Chania. With plenty of amenities nearby, this is the perfect spot for those wanting to stay close to the city centre. It’s a long stretch of sandy beach with some rocky areas, and is especially popular among locals for its fish taverns. There is also a plethora of restaurants, snack bars, and cafes in the area, plus a yearly “Sardine Festival” complete with traditional music, dance, and free fish for visitors.
Kladissos beach is a lengthy and secluded sandy-pebble bay which can be accessed by crossing the Kladisos river via the pedestrian bridge. Despite its close proximity to Chania, the beach remains relatively unknown and is not organised with amenities.
