Stefanou Beach, also known as Saint Rafael or Saint Spyridon, is located 22km northeast of Chania and 2km east of the village Chordaki at the east side of Akrotiri Cape. It is situated in the wild landscape of Seitan Limania, known for its steep cliffs and strong sea streams. The beach offers a protected cove of fine pebbles and sand, transferred from the nearby quarry through the canyon Diplohahalo. To the right and the left of the cove, huge marble rocks stand guard to protect it from bad weather. The beach has become increasingly popular since 2010, following the construction of an asphalt road leading to it. To reach the beach, visitors must navigate a narrow, steep path from the car park. It is worth noting that the beach is also known as Saint Rafael, after the church at the start of the gorge, and Saint Spyridon, after the old cavernous temple closeby.
