Platanakia Beach is located about 61 kilometers southwest of Chania City, 31km south of Kissamos and 5km northwest of the Kambos Village, close to Sfinari Bay. It is a small and secluded cove, surrounded by high cliffs, usually unpopulated. The sand is a mix of stones and sand, with trees providing some shade. The area is perfect for those who prefer remote places. To get there on foot, one must follow a path leading from Kambos Village, through a lush gorge with a river, that takes about two hours. Alternatively, one can take a 4×4 off-road track, crossing fences put up by goat and sheepherders, up to the last plateau; then, they can take the path down to the beach. Sfinari beach is situated just behind the north side of Platanakia (Cape Korakas), and can be reached by walking for 20 minutes north from the beach.
