Agios Antonios beach, located in the remote area of Charéi, 2.5km east of the village of Sougia and 68km west of Chania city, is a serene and tranquil bay with a stunning chapel of St. Anthony. There is no infrastructure or amenities, but visitors may enjoy the natural beauty of the area, such as the rocky and pebble shores, pine trees, and crystal-clear waters, as well as partake in activities like naturism, camping, fishing, and snorkelling.
Reaching the beach involves either a two-hour walk along the spectacular E4 hiking trail, which winds through rocky coves, pine trees, wild mountains, and steep cliffs, or a boat ride from Sougia harbor. Every summer, a festival is held in honour of St. Anthony on July 1-2, with visitors arriving mainly by boats and camping outdoors. Agios Antonios beach is the perfect destination for a peaceful getaway, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
