Situated in the south of Chania, 85km away, Grammeno Peninsula is an idyllic destination for visitors seeking a tranquil beach getaway. Featuring two distinct parts, the peninsula’s east side is home to Alonaki, Votsalo or Gialos beach, a 500m stretch of fine and coarse pebbles, and crystal clear waters, which is not guarded from the waves and has umbrellas available in its western area. On the other side of the peninsula, visitors can find the sheltered bay of Chouma, featuring soft sand and plenty of shade from the protected juniper trees. For those looking to stay in the area, camping is available, as well as a few restaurants and rooms. For those without a car, the journey to Paleochora can be done by bus, with a taxi required for the final leg.
