Finikas (or Phoenix), a small harbor located in Sfakia province, is situated 83 kilometers south of Chania city and 700 meters west of Loutro. The harbor is named after the ancient town of Phoenix, whose ruins remain close to Loutro, and was formerly the port of the ancient Anopolis. Finikas is traversed by part of the European E4 hiking trail, which links Marmara beach (the Aradena Gorge exit) to the village of Loutro. To the west, there is a huge rock separating Finikas from Likos harbor.
The port of Finikas has a lovely beach with pebbles, which is relatively organized with provided umbrellas and canoes. From this beach, there are boat trips to Marmara and Loutro at reasonable prices. There is also a picturesque tavern, as well as several rooms for those who wish to enjoy the tranquility of the area.
Finikas can be accessed via a passable dirt road that originates from Livaniana (via Anopolis). However, the easiest way to get to the beach is by taking a boat from Chora Sfakion or Loutro.
