Amoudi beach is situated around 75 kilometres south of Chania, and 1.5 kilometres east of Chora Sfakion. It is one of the lesser known beaches in the area, yet one of the most attractive. The shore is made up of small pebbles, and the seabed is covered in beautiful rock formations. The water is crystal clear, and the caves in the conglomerate rocks provide a cool escape from the sun. Above the beach is a shrine with a breathtaking view of the bay. Further east lies the church of Saint Charalambos, which can be reached in just five minutes through the rocky path. On the west side is Fokia, a cave with two openings that was once home to seals. The beach is also close to the nudists’ hotel Vritomartis, and the nearby coves and Filaki beach are popular with naturists.
