Aposelemis is a 19km-long river located east of Heraklion, between Analipsi and Gouves, and is a particularly important habitat for migrating birds and rare animals. At the river’s outlet, a stunning beach with shallow and cool waters is formed. Despite its close proximity to popular tourist spots, the beach is not as well-maintained as the rest of the area’s beaches and contains few umbrellas and sunbeds.
To reach the beach, travelers can choose between two routes. The first is to drive to Analipsi beach and then follow the coastal road westward until the long beach of Aposelemis. The other option is to drive along the Kato Gouves coastal road and make a right turn after reaching its easternmost point, where a hotel is situated on the opposite side of the street, next to a soccer field. This is where the beach of Aposelemis is located.
