Located 1km east of Lendas and 76km south of Heraklion, the tranquil beach of East Tsigounas, more commonly known as Petrakis, is situated at the foot of the steep and rugged slopes of Asterousia Mountains. To access the beach, you can take a car from Lendas and travel eastwards to the local port. The small hamlet at East Tsigounas consists of two to three taverns with rooms, and a few houses, one of which is called Ostria, after a nearby hotel.
Stretching along the beach are beautiful, round pebbles, as well as a number of tamarisk trees providing shade and a spot to camp. While the beach is not well-organized, some of the taverns offer umbrellas for those looking for some respite from the sun.
