Situated 69km southeast of Iraklion, the coastal town of Listis lies between Kastri (2km to the west) and Tsoutsouras. This area, which is bordered by the Anapodaris river, one of the most significant Cretan wetlands, comprises the stunning beach Kamboula, a much sought-after destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life. The beach is composed of pretty pebbles and crystal blue waters, and while it is not heavily developed, there are some rooms and apartments available to rent in the vicinity.
The area is generally warm and dry, with the Anapodaris river providing water all year round. On parts of the beach, visitors can enjoy the shade of small tamarisk trees. Accessing Kamboula is easy; simply follow the road between Kastri and Tsoutsouras.
