Located 72km southeast of Heraklion, Kastri is the biggest of two settlements in the sheltered bay of Keratokambos. The village has seen considerable development in tourism in recent years, which is no surprise given the beautiful beaches in the area. Kastri is easily accessible by car via a road connecting Ano Viannos to Heraklion (45′-55′). The port of the village is the only one in the region, used by local fishermen and boats. On the west of the port there is a small beach, perfect for families and surrounded by tamarisk trees. For those seeking a longer beach, Skouros is located west of this beach. Additionally, Kastri boasts the Church of St. Demetrius Galatoktistos, previously a monastery, and the chapel of St. George Vagionitis surrounded by a lush garden.
