Situated 2.5km south of Agios Nikolaos, Almiros Beach is a popular destination that is shaped by the mouth of the Almiros River. Aside from the beach, the Almiros wetland is also a protected area, characterized by tall eucalyptus trees, reeds and a few palm trees, and is home to several rare birds. The beach is long, sandy and the water is shallow and usually tranquil, making it the perfect spot for young children and families. There are various canteens and water sports available, while the water may be chillier than usual due to the river that flows throughout the year. Accommodations can be found along the south side of the beach. For those who don’t have a car, they can take the pedestrian street that starts from Gargadoros Beach, located 5 minutes south of the town’s marina, and reach Almiros Beach in 5 minutes.
