Sissi is a tranquil traditional coastal town located about 26 kilometers west of Agios Nikolaos and 41 kilometers east of Heraklion. Its main attraction is the beautiful harbor with its deep green, placid waters. The coastline in this area is primarily rocky, with only a few smaller beaches. The only beach in town where you can swim safely and protected from the waves is located in this harbor (Limani). It is a very small beach with a few umbrellas and showers. For other nearby beaches, you can head east to Harkoma bay and its well-organized beach of Boufos. This beach is sandy and open to the winds. Closeby, at the exit of a narrow bay, is the beach of Avlaki. Then there is Kalimera, the beach located in front of the hotel Kalimera Kriti. It is well-maintained and has shallow waters, ideal for children. On the other side of the hotel, you will find Spiliada beach. This beach has sand, plenty of tamarisk trees, and is a calmer setting than the other beaches.
