Myrtos beach

Myrtos is a stunning seaside village located 13km west of Ierapetra, known for its beautiful beaches of coarse gray sand, lush gardens, and traditional style. It has experienced some mild development in recent years, though, luckily, its charm has remained kept intact. Visitors can take advantage of the many services the village offers, such as hotels, bars, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, a gas station, and a clinic. Myrtos is particularly popular for its family-friendly beach, which is well-organized with lifeguard, umbrellas, showers, changing rooms, cafes, restaurants, water sports, and beach volleyball. Nature-lovers can explore the surrounding gorges and visit two Minoan settlements, Fournou Korifi and Pirgos, while those interested in history can visit the Archaeological and Folk Art Museum of Myrtos and observe a monument commemorating the 18 locals killed by the Nazis in 1943.
