Located 27km east of Rethymnon and 2km east of the village of Skepasti, in the province of Milopotamos, are the beautiful beaches of Skepasti. Accessible by dirt roads, locals tend to favor the beach of Koukistres. All of the beaches in the area are exposed to the north winds and have deep, pebbly waters. Unfortunately, they are also quite far from the nearest hotels and restaurants, located in Panormos, so it is important to bring all of the essentials for an enjoyable trip. In addition to the beaches, visitors can take in the rocky, arid landscapes that characterize the surrounding area.
Exploring the village of Skepasti is also a great way to spend time in the area. Deriving its name from the Byzantine church of Panagia Skepasti, the village has a fascinating legend that is well worth reading.
