Nestled in the south of Rethymno, the village of Kerames is home to some breathtaking beaches. Among the most popular is the Akoumiani Gialia beach, comprised of the sandhills of Ligres, Triopetra, and Agios Pavlos. Further north lies the village’s namesake beach of Keramiani Gialia. At the local harbor of Agia Fotini, also known as Agia Fotia, travelers can explore tiny pebble beaches perfect for snorkeling and swimming, as well as the traditional tavern of Stavros. Here, visitors can enjoy fresh fish, umbrellas, and showers at no cost. A short walk along the rocky shore to the west leads to another hidden pebbly beach.
Just a few meters away lies the ruins of the ancient town Kionia, which dates back to the prominoan years. Here, visitors can observe the remains of buildings and terraces, as well as a small river that forms a small green wood. This area is also home to the old church of Agia Fotini and a small house with a lovely garden.
