Mavros Molos Beach is situated directly in front of Kissamos, a town located 36 kilometers west of Chania. This long bay holds the remains of the ancient port of Kissamos and is the most popular beach in the area. It has fine sand, shallow waters and a variety of amenities such as umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguards, and showers, making it ideal for families and children. Nearby, visitors can find many cafes, restaurants and hotels. In addition, the beach is shaded by tamarisk trees.
Adjacent to the main beach is a smaller, rockier bay with pebbles. This secluded spot is perfect for snorkeling and is rarely crowded.
