Located just 1km north of the traditional village of Kaliviani and 7km northwest of Kissamos town, Kalyviani Beach is an ideal spot for visitors to the picturesque village to enjoy a swim. Despite its proximity to the village and Kissamos, the beach is not widely used for swimming due to its rocky bottom and stony surface, with only a few small patches of sand. It is not recommended to take a dip when the wind is high, as large waves and a rocky seabed make it a risky venture.
There are generally few amenities to be found on the beach, so it is best to seek out the hotels and taverns of Kaliviani and Kissamos. In addition, the beach is often littered with rubbish due to the strength of the currents and waves.
