The picturesque Alona beach (Krinakia) is located at the exit of the Katsounaki Gorge, to the east of Xirokambos settlement. It is a stunning sandy beach, often covered in white sea daffodils during the autumn months. Exploring the canyon is relatively easy; with its tall, wild walls, it’s possible to hike from Alona to the bottom. Following the rocky shore for 1km, you’ll eventually come across the small fjord of Roussospasma, with its pebbly beach at its innermost point. Here, the red-soiled limestone walls can easily collapse, so walk with caution. If you have a boat, this beach is ideal for snorkelling, as its rocky bottom offers a secluded spot. Potamos beach is located west of Alona, and can be reached by car. It’s a quiet beach with large round pebbles. It is also known as Italika, due to the presence of some Italian houses.
