Kamarelles Beach, situated near the ancient Roman Theatre and the Roman buildings of Lefki, is an extraordinary sandy shoreline located on the isle of Koufonissi. Here, tourists can observe parts of ancient columns while snorkeling, as well as two incredible natural arches at the south end of the beach. Directly opposite is the islet of Makroulo, home to a secluded small sandy beach.
Koufonissi is a tiny, arid isle situated 3 miles south of Goudouras Cape and 80km southeast of Agios Nikolaos. Tourists can access the island by excursion boat from Makrigialos. Once there, visitors can explore 36 pristine sandy shores with crystal-clear turquoise waters, unknown to most people.
