Georgioupolis, a small seaside town located 38km east of Chania and 21km west of Rethymnon, is home to a vast long beach spanning 10km. Stretching from the river Almiros to Kavros beach, the 2km-long Georgioupolis beach is sandy and dotted with dunes in some areas, with shallow waters ideal for children. Windy days require extra caution due to the sea currents. The beach is equipped with lifeguards, umbrellas, showers, food and drinks. 700m east of the port, the beach is split in two by the river Perastikos, while to the west lies the beach of Kalivaki, near the exit of Almyros river.
