Karavopetra beach

For those looking for some of the most stunning coves in Crete, the beaches of Paleochora are the perfect choice. Starting 1.5 km west of the village and extending 2.5 km towards the west until Cape Grammenos, these coves offer crystal clear waters and spectacular pebbles. The main road connecting Paleochora and Koundoura runs along the coves, making them less preferred by nudists. The first beach encountered is Kalamia, which gets its name from the reeds that are there, followed by Psilos Volakas and Karavopetra. Karavopetra is a lovely beach with coarse sand and pebbles, open to the south winds. To the right of Karavopetra lies Plakaki, a small, unorganized beach with pebbles. This area also hosts several rooms and restaurants, making it a great option to stay. Lastly, the beaches of Grammenos are located directly after. With all these beaches and more, Paleochora is a must-see destination for those looking for some of the best coves in Crete.
