Nestled in the west of Mochlos and to the east of Malavra Springs lies the area known as Altsi, which takes its name from the Turkish word ‘alçı’ meaning gypsum or plaster. This region houses two small, secluded beaches, which remain relatively unknown due to their difficult accessibility caused by the nearby quarries. The only way to reach the beaches of Altsi is via the road that leads to the mills that process the stones, which is signposted as a dead end before Mochlos. Despite the drastic alterations to the landscape from mining, the beaches are remarkably clean and picturesque.
