Nestled on the coast of eastern Crete, the beach of Chiona is an idyllic spot for a perfect day. This sandy beach is renowned for its beauty and serenity, as well as its whitish sand and shallow blue waters. Although it is not a long beach, its picturesque scenery and surrounding greenery make it a popular destination. The area is also known for its carob stores, from which it derives its Cretan dialect name. Here, visitors can relax on the shore and take advantage of the nearby fish taverns for a delicious meal. To the east of the main beach, there are several small coves where one can find a quiet place for a private swim. Additionally, the island of Grandes lies opposite Chiona, while the remains of an ancient Minoan port and settlement can be found just next to the beach. To the north, the long beach of Kouremenos is a great spot for windsurfing, while the hill of Kastri to the west offers views of the sea and the ruins of an old fort.
