Located 8km east of the city of Rethymno, Pigianos Kampos (often referred to as Pigi beach) is a seaside touristic spot which is less developed than its adjacent area, Adelianos Kambos. This area is well-known for its fertile fields which gave it its name, which in Greek means “Plane of Pigi”. Nowadays, there are many apartments, rooms and larger hotels, along with plenty of options for dining, entertainment and shopping.
The beach here is usually more tranquil and peaceful than the other beaches of Rethymnon, and between Pigianos Kambos and Stavromenos, visitors can enjoy swimming and snorkeling in the numerous rocky coves. In addition, this beach is a protected nesting ground for sea turtles, who lay their eggs on the sandy beach.
Those wishing to visit the area can do so easily via the frequent bus services from the centre of Rethymnon.
