Situated 58km south of Chania and just 7km east of Sougia, the charming beach of Domata awaits. Home to a unique natural monument created by the action of water, the name ‘Domata’ is derived from the staggered arrangement of conglomerate rocks, which resemble huge walls. The shore is adored for its fine pebbles and crystal clear waters, while those brave enough to dig into the sand will uncover fresh underground springs. Pine trees offer natural shade and a great place to camp, while the southernmost part of the beach – separated by rocks from the main stretch – is known as Kolotrividis cape. To get to Domata, one must traverse the E4 European Trail, which heads east and leads to Agia Roumeli, though the trail can be steep and dangerous in some parts as it climbs to an altitude of 700m.
